The path took us to Earthquake Park, past scenic marshes and through deep enough woods that I was serenading the trees with classic hits like "Twinkle Twinkle" and "I've Been Working on the Railroad" to scare away the bears. Before now, it's mostly been Heidi and I taking the kids on hikes and we talk enough, I figure the bears know we're coming. However, on a bike, the serenity of being alone in the woods, quickly turns to easy food for a hungry bear in this part of the world.
We biked to Point Woronzof which is a great point for watching commercial planes take off and land. We told Willem the planes would look like they were right over our heads, but none of were prepared for the decibel of noise. When the 1st plane took off, Willem threw himself on the ground and covered his head and Ellie clung to me for safety. We only saw the flights take off but apparently when they land they are even closer to where we were sitting.
Having snacks and watching the planes.
The kids were exhausted from the ride, so was Jason! There were some big hills to pull up an extra 60lbs.
That evening, Dr. Stange and his wife had us over for dinner. The kids loved their chickens.
