Cheney Park

This morning began with a trip to the Farmers Market. It was fun seeing more of the city on our way to the market but the market itself was a bit less than it had been built up to be online. Since winter just ended here there hasn't been much time for growing produce so rhubarb was all that was in season. We did pick up some locally grown hamburger and sausage and it ended up being quite tasty! Looking forward to coming back in a few weeks.

From the market, we went in search of a park with a playground. The GPS told us Cheney Park was nearby so away we went. 10 minutes later the GPS told us we had arrived at our destination and much to our surprise, we were at a dead end in the middle of a neighborhood. The kids were excited. There were a bunch of neighborhood kids playing in the street and there was a dog. One house even had a small playhouse in the front yard. The kids were ready to picnic! After joining the neighborhood crew for awhile, we learned from one of the teens that there was a trail we could hop on that would take us through the woods and to Cheney Park. What a beautiful walk!

Ellie's picnic in the neighborhood

We went through the forest on a path for what seemed like a mile and then we emerged from the forest and were walking next to a lake.

We look up the hill and there was the holy grail, a playground!

Ellie loves going down the slide!
