Willem's First Group Performances

Willem had his first all day Suzuki workshop last weekend with VSSA and the theme was Seuzzuki, a celebration of 100 years of Dr. Seuss. He had a class where they used black lights and wore white gloves and socks and clapped to the rhythm of a reading of a Dr. Seuss book. He did crafts and then had a violin class with other Pre-Twinklers and Twinklers. He observed the whole class while I played the violin but when it came time for the performance, he was all about getting up on stage with the other kids and playing right along. I feel like this workshop was a big turning point for him with the violin. He has a community now of other kids doing the same things and he is excited to see them again.

Heading to his first group performance with his studio.

Megyn, Willem's teacher had arranged for her studio to perform at the Coronado Home Tour last weekend and it was a great success. All of the kids had started on the violin within the past 3 months so they were all about at the same point in their suzuki journey and had no apprehensions about performing. I'm really loving the other parents in the studio, they're all laid back and just want the kids to have fun and want to be an active part of the journey. His teacher is pretty amazing. She had a group practice a couple nights before at her house and she had the kids play games and do other fun activities to get ready for the performance.

Ellie had a blast at the home tour as well, playing with the puppies seemed to be the highlight of her day. She didn't want to leave them and they let her snuggle and pet them for a long time.

I'm glad you keep posting the updates. We enjoy reading about the events in our grandkids' life (yours as well). Willem seems to be getting more outgoing. The last thing we want is another shy Weiss style kid. Keep up the good work.
