Ellie's 1st Week at Home (7-26 thru 7-31)

Ellie's 1st week at home was full of adventures. With Grandma in town, we went to the train park with friends, caught a movie and had Ellie's 1st doctors appointment. Ellie is a trooper!! She kept us on our feet with blow out diapers but by the end of the week, we had those changes down to a science. Willem and his friend Reese at the Train Park.

Ellie's 1st train ride (She's hidden behind Willem)

Ellie catching her first flick. According to Ellie, the movie was a real snoozer, but the snacks were good.

Getting some quality Dad time. All this week Ellie slept on Jason's chest at night, she loves cuddling with Daddy.

Hanging with Grandma

Willem loved having Ellie lay next to him in his train bed for storytime and she wholeheartedly obliged. They are so connected already, we noticed that when Willem cries, Ellie cries too. In fact we know when Willem is waking in the morning because Ellie will start to stir in our room and 5 minutes later we'll hear Willem waking up. As soon as we get Willem, Ellie is back to sleep again. It's as though she's watching out for him.

Willem is fascinated by Ellie. He's very curious about how she eats and wants to be a part of her diaper changing. Every morning he goes to her and say "Hi Ellie, Hi Ellie" and then continues on with his day.

Ellie had her first check up and it went great. She was pretty much back at her birthweight and had grown an inch they said (a little much for 1 weeks time, but who knows...)
By the end of the week Ellie was worn out from our adventures and needed a good rest...

Ellie is born!!

After much anticipation, Eleanora (Ellie) Rose Weiss was born at 9:03 am on July 24th. We were all excited to meet her and hold her in our arms. After her first feeding, Ellie weighed in at 8 lbs, 2oz and was 20.5 inches long.

Ellie was surrounded by love at the hospital with all of her grandparents and aunts and uncles there to welcome her.

Willem was shy at first with Ellie but then jumped at the chance to hold her. He soon became fascinated by the fact that she doesn't have teeth and that she drinks Mommy's Milk. He likes to narrate her day, "Ellie needs nap, Ellie needs clean diaper..." He has been a BIG helper and loves giving her kisses and laying next to her in bed in the morning.

At the hospital and at home, Ellie starts out her night sleeping in Daddy's arms.

Ellie was a little irritated when we began getting her ready to go home, but as soon as we put on her pink dress, she immediately calmed down. Pink might just be her favorite color... Time will tell. In Willem's words: "Ellie home".

July 2010 thus far

Starting in June, we've been going to the movies each Friday with our friends. This has been Willem's first experience in going to the movies and he's loved it. He loves seeing his friends and the popcorn doesn't hurt either. It's fun to hear his thoughts after the movies. Charlotte's Web was our first movie and when we asked him what happened in the movie he said "Oh no pig".

Willem's wake up time has been quite sporadic lately and a bit too early for Moms liking. But one Saturday when Jason was working, I awoke to Willem patiently waiting by our bed saying "Park Mommy, park". When I realized it was only 5:45, we headed to the car in our PJ's and enjoyed an hour of playing at the park while it was less than 100 degrees. Willem was in heaven and had the whole place to himself.

We are thoroughly loving our Summer so far, spending time with friends and staying cool in the pool while we await the arrival of Ellie Rose. (who according to Willem will be arriving soon on a plane--how most people come to visit him) Posted by Picasa
