Happy 6th Birthday Willem!! We cannot believe our baby is 6 years old. He is so confident, happy and inquisitive. Opa, Lita and Oom Rik drove in to be there for his birthday and even were able to attend his birthday celebration at school.
The Montessori way of celebrating birthdays is very symbolic. The birthday child holds the earth in their hands and walks around the sun one time for each year they've been on earth. The teacher then showed the poster I had made with pictures of him at various ages.
Birthday cake request: Chocolate cake with blue icing. Kids helped in the baking of the cake.
Willem is now in full blown Lego mode. All he wanted for his bday were legos. As a result, he received at least 20 lego sets between his party and family.
Lita and Opa decorated one of their gifts with a creative logo centerpiece. They always find a creative way to make the kids gifts special.
The big request this year was to have his bday party at Chuck E Cheese. Ordinarily I am opposed to such a party but he wore me down and Chuck E Cheese is what he got. No regrets, he can't wait to have his party there again next year. Between the games, the ticketblaster, the guitar and crown, he is hooked. This was also the first party where we invited his whole class. He's become so social, he wanted to make sure ALL of his friends were there.
Ellie's favorite ride.
Best friends since they were 2.
The weekend after Willem's birthday he sat for hours and hours assembling one set after another. Adults would switch off sitting at the table with him, but he was focused and had a plan as to the order they would be assembled. We now have a Lego museum at our house and by the end of the weekend I was pinteresting Lego storage ideas.
Happy birthday sweet boy!!
You are loved to outer space and back.
