Post Foot July

This Summer could be split into two periods: Before the broken foot and After the broken foot.

July 5th started out like any other ordinary day. That afternoon I took the kids to the gym with me and I tried a new class. Less than 5 minutes into the warm up I stepped wrong with my right foot and ended up on the ground. After hopping to kids club to get the kids I gave the keys to our brand new van to a not so willing Samaritan. Had them pull up our car and then drove home. At the time I didn't realize my foot was broken, looking back at it I was definitely in shock. When we got home Willem asked our neighbor for help and we all got situated inside and luckily my Mom got home soon after. Julie and Jason did their best diagnosing but the next day we went to Urgent Care and learned I had broken my 5th metatarsal. This put quite a damper on our Summer festivities but ended up spurring quite a few movie days and connected us with Jill who ended up nannying for us part time this year. So all worked out.

We said "I Do" 8 Years Ago

We celebrated our 8 year anniversary in July and the Weiss' and Zitters' graciously kept the kids while we went checked out wine country near Ojai. We toured the Firestone winery and had a chance to check out the sleepy town of Ojai we'd heard so much about.

Happy Birthday Ellie

Happy 3rd Birthday Ellie!! We celebrated Ellie's Birthday at Ultimate Gymnastics and she loved her party. She requested a Tinker Bell cake which Rachel delivered on and was in heaven tumbling and doing gymnastics with her friends.

At the top of her list this year was a doll. She was so excited to get a crib and high chair for her babies from Opa and Lita.

Ellie is playful, loving and full of life. She is the first to comfort someone when they are hurt and is incredibly patient while Mom attends to her brother and sister. We love you Ellie!!

4th of July

We woke early on the 4th to go to the Arcadia Neighborhood Parade. What a blast!! Was very reminiscent of a Midwest 4th of July Celebration.

That evening our neighborhood hosted our 1st ever 4th of July party. There was live entertainment, music and great food. The kids saw an inkling of fireworks on our walk home which was a nice way to end the evening.

The Summer of Forts

July started out full of forts, family reading time and lots of floor time with Audrey. Forts were all the rage and were left standing for days and days on end.
