January 31, 2011 Sedona Here We Come

Look at that view! One last daytrip with Grandma before she goes back to work.

January 2011

Ellie loves crawling under the bed or into small crevices. She has great spatial awareness as she is yet to get stuck.

Jason headed to Alaska January 1st and he was definitely missed. Not many pictures of him up North but here is one of his snowboarding. While he was in Alaska there would be sunlight 6 hours a day so he experienced snowboarding in the dark.

Ellie is eating more solids and loves sitting at the dinner table.

Willem had his haircut. He looks like such a big boy now, which is his ultimate goal. Everyday he asks if he's gotten bigger.

Other points of interest:
-Grandma asked Willem what he wanted to be when he was older and he responded, "Big, so big"

-Grandma mentioned in the car that she'd like Erik to give her tennis lessons. Willem said, I can teach you to play tennis grandma and pretended to swing a racket. He kept bringing it up throughout the day and would demonstrate swinging a racket. We have no idea how he knew that and he is adamant that he should give her a lesson.

-Ellie is crawling like a pro now and starting to pull up on furniture

The Farm

Dad came home for a weekend to take a test and we made the most of our time together as a family. We have all been going through Dad withdrawal. Willem was so excited to pick him up at the airport! For the longest time he kept thinking Dad would come home at night but then took to enjoying our nightly FaceTime storytime with Dad. Willem wanted to see everything from where Dad was living to the car he drove to the other residents he was with.

We went to a place called The Farm for an afternoon of family fun.

Willem acted like he'd never seen grass before and rolled and rolled around. We'll definitely be going here again.

He was so enthusiastic, he flirted with running in the water and racing the waves back to the sand. Unfortunately, mother nature won that race and...

Willem changed into his pj's for our ride home after taking a tumble in the water. All in all, a fun and exciting day. (notice the hand holding, right now we are in a don't touch me phase so I'm looking back at this moment fondly)

Ellie's 1st trip to Disneyland

Ellie loved people watching with Lita and going on the train and boat ride.

Dumbo was a hit as was Goofy's roller coaster. He'd been a bit timid lately about slides and other rides so I wasn't sure how the roller coaster would go over. He laughed the entire time and when the ride was over he immediately said he wanted to go again. He waited patiently, for another half hour and I think he would have kept going for more rides but the rest of us were ready for dinner.

All in all a wonderful trip to Disneyland, though Dad was missed.
