We just couldn't leave these pictures out this week. Yesterday our friends baby boy was Baptised so Willem got dressed up for the occasion. (He's outgrown his 0-3 months close and we wanted to get one last wear out of his dress outfit). He just continues to be so curious and alert, his eyes are always wide open, soaking up his surroundings.
He is also already showing his Dutch heritage as he was fascinated by the Dutch flag he saw at a friends house.
We have so enjoyed the last three months but were sad to pack away those clothes and realize how much he has grown and changed.

I see you camera...
Willem totally knows what the camera is now so it's hard to catch an action shot anymore without him turning around. But that also means the pictures of him are getting better and better as he smiles at the camera. This weel Willem has really enjoyed sitting up while being propped up by the pillows. He has also been loving his time with Tia Julie. He is definitely going to miss her when she leaves.
The last picture was taken Friday night (hence my after work look). As Jason noted, Willem was acting like a baby kangaroo, curling up into a ball. He seems to be doing well being apart for the day but always makes sure to reconnect when I get home.
He won't let go!

Check out the You Tube Videos
Do you get tired of going to You Tube in search of new videos of Willem? What would you rather be doing with those countless hours?
Well, instead of checking out You Tube on an hourly basis to find out whether a new one is there or not, you can simply subscribe to Jason's videos.
How do you do this?

Willem helps Julie make Maw Maw's Biscuits
Today, Julie and Willem set out to make Maw Maw's biscuits. With Willem in the Baby Bjorn they were ready to go. First, they read the directions carefully to make sure they came out tasty, but Willem was hungry so he began eating the Baby Bjorn. Soon Julie enlisted Willem to be her assistant and gave him the measuring cup to hold. (This is the first time Willem's held onto an object for a long period of time, and he was not going to ever let go!) But soon he remembered he was hungry again, so he tried to bring the measuring cup to his mount, but oops, he missed. The biscuits were great but the story of Julie and Willem making them was even better.
Willem is 3 Months Old!!
We cannot believe how much time has flown! The other night we were looking at pictures from when Willem was a few days old and we don't even recognize that baby. He has truly begun to blossom--his personality is starting to appear and he is interacting more and more.
To see how much he has physically changed in the last 3 months, we decided to take a picture of him on this 3 month birthday in the outfit he wore when he came home from the hospital.
What's new with Willem?
Willem loves looking at faces, especially close up. His new thing is exploring our faces with his hands. It is so sweet but our glasses are on edge about our faces being his favorite toy.
Willem also continues to be fascinated with his hands. He loves staring at them and holding them together. He works very hard to have them go where he wants them to.
These pictures were taken at the doctor's office where he received his Pc and Hib vaccines. He did very well with the vaccines, just a bit drowsy that evening, but no other reaction.
While we were at the doctor's office they measured him and he is now 12 lbs. 15 oz. (with clothing) and 26 " long. He has definitely had a growth spurt in the last month!!
Willem loves his baths
So lately Willem has been enjoying his baths more and more. on Wednesday when we were giving him a bath he was so funny, as soon as sat him down he put his hand on the faucet and would not let go. He was just flirting with the camera while we were rinsing him off, making the sweetest faces. He is just growing and changing so much everyday!
Julie's 1st day with Willem
So on Monday, I headed back to work and Julie and Willem hung out together at the house. The day started off pretty relaxed for the pair as they dozed on the couch, read some books and played on the floor. Then the phone rang.... it was Mizzou calling to tell Julie she got into medical school. Then magically, Julie and Willem changed into their Mizzou attire and celebrated:) That night we all went out to dinner to celebrate, we are so proud of her for everything she's done to make this happen! Willem is ready to cheer on the Tigers this fall and visit with his Tia Julie.
Congratulations Julie!
Welcome to Iowa Julie!
On Monday I went back to work, so Julie came to town to hang out with Willem for a few weeks and visit us. So Sunday night Julie was getting into town and we told her to meet us at the Airliner for dinner. The Airliner has $1.50 slices of pizza on Sunday's and it's just a neat, local restaurant.Well, in true Jason style, we get ready to order and Jason decides to order the "Airbus" rather than pizza. He read that if you eat the "Airbus" in 30 minutes you get a free t-shirt. The description said the hamburger had 2 lbs. of meat and a generous helping of fries. So while Julie and I's pizza is ready and waiting, the waitress informs us it will be 15-20o minutes for this "Airbus". Well, was it worth the wait! The waitress brought out this plate with the biggest hamburger I've ever seen and informs Jason that she's going to start the timer. For the next half hour, Julie, Willem and I watch Jason devour this meal to the point where there are only remnants of the meal left on the plate. He did this in a way that only someone who had just watched the World Hot Dog eating contest could do. He did it with intensity, precision and speed. Unfortunately, the time limit did him in. In the end, no t-shirt was won, but he did find an awfully ironic way to welcome Julie, our beloved vegetarian.
(To welcome Julie, Willem coordinated his outfit)
Pool party with friends
Willem slept almost all the way home from Columbia on Saturday night. So on Sunday we were all well rested for a swim party at the Renks' house. This was Willem's first party with his friends. It was a beautiful day in Iowa and the Renks had a kiddie pool for the kids to play in. Willem was more of the observer that day. He enjoyed sitting in the backyard watching Jonah and Isabella play in the pool but didn't get. Then later on he watched as the older kids played with their toys while Jason and the guys checked out Wii Fit and some of the other games. Overall it was a beautiful day and the perfect end to a long weekend!
Willem's 1st Fourth of July
This was Willem's first 4th of July and we celebrated in true 4th of July style. Not only did we go swimming and take in the sun (Grandmas--don't call, we didn't take Willem out to sunbathe:), but we also took in the fireworks. Since Willem goes to bed around 8:00pm he fell asleep before the show started, but he did get some fresh air while we all enjoyed the view from Uncle Dan's patio.
Then after the professional show was done, Jason decided to try his skills at the Sparklers.
We noticed this weekend that Willem is really starting to pay attention to the camera. This is great because we're getting more pictures of him looking forward in the pictures. We just keep hoping the flash isn't bothering his eyes too much because some days Willem and I feel like we are living with the paparazzi (aka Jason/Daddy).
We aren't sure what our tradition will be for 4th of July in the future, but we do know we had a great start to our family celebrations.
